The Most Horrifying Music Video of 2014 Has Been Released

Flying Lotus' new video for "Ready Err Not" begins with a warning: "The following contains scenes that some viewers may find disturbing. Viewer discretion is advised." It's not to be taken lightly.

David Firth, creator of horror comedy flash series Salad Fingers, animated the video's twisting entrails, distorted faces and malformed fetuses. As the latest release off Flying Lotus' critically acclaimed new album You're Dead! "Ready Err Not" is — believe it or not — a lot more light-hearted and cartoonish than the album's previous visual accompaniments. Fly Lo's videos have all been very high art, such as the intricate funeral choreography for the the Kendrick Lamar-assisted "Never Catch Me" and album's teaser video, which featured drawings from Japanese surrealist manga artist Shintaro Kago.

If anything, the cartoonish feel of "Ready Err Not" makes all the themes explored in You're Dead!  — decay, insanity, preternatural and spiritual horror — feel more visceral and immediate than they have before. Just in time for the most horrifying night of the year. Take comfort in the fact that nothing you see on the streets Friday night will be worse than this.
