This Little Girl's CVS-Themed Birthday Party Is Our Dream Party Come True
A universally known fact: CVS is awesome. The ubiquitous pharmacy is a place people of all ages can come and luxuriate in penny-pinching retail therapy. It's a colorful haven of treats and items that just might be "necessary." It's a place of wonders that attracts a diverse set of fanatics.
Like 4-year-old Iris of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Ever since Iris witnessed one of the stores being built in her hometown, she's been their biggest fan.
"It all started nearly two years ago when construction began on our city's very first CVS Pharmacy," her mother, popular blogger Sarah Fortune, wrote in a blog post, saying the new location was along Iris' path to school. "Being that she was only 3 when it opened, she watched the progress of the structure being built for nearly half of her life, so naturally it was a big deal when the store finally opened."
So to represent Iris' love for the pharmacy chain in the best way possible, Fortune threw her daughter a CVS-themed birthday party — and she pulled out all the stops. (A huge undertaking, considering there are definitely no Pinterest boards for CVS-themed birthdays.)
The birthday was CVS themed in terms of color and decor. But the main thing Fortune's daughter really wanted was something not usually sold at CVS: a cake.
"When I asked her what she wanted at her party, the one thing she insisted on was a 'CVS cake,'" Fortune told Mic. "Not knowing entirely what that meant, I tried to get creative with it."
And that's exactly what she did.
Don't worry, those are Tic Tac party favors in those pill bottles.
Due to Fortune's popularity as a blogger (she has more than 12,000 Instagram followers), CVS caught wind of Iris' affection and made sure her party was as accurate as possible.
"When CVS headquarters heard about Iris' party, they sent us tons of snacks, favors and party supplies to celebrate," Fortune wrote. "And when we told the local store manager about what kind of party we were having, he was so sweet to donate some CVS-brand water bottles to add to the goodie bags."
To top it all off, Iris got to see her name in lights — on a CVS sign.
"Her year was MADE when they flashed a big 'happy birthday' message to Iris up on the big sign out front," Fortune wrote.
Fortune said guests of the party were equally as stoked on the idea, given that Iris is not too shy about her CVS adoration.
"Being around Iris, no one was that surprised since we all know her love for the store," Fortune said. "They thought it was pretty funny and they all played along. Most of them ended up bringing her presents from CVS, which she was really pumped about."
Yeah, we'd be pretty pumped too. Fortune set a new bar for mommy bloggers everywhere (and without Pinterest, no less!) But we're just excited to see someone give the retail wonder that is CVS the honor it deserves.
