Man Climbing Trump Tower Spurs Massive Police Response [Video]

Impact

An unknown man began scaling Trump Tower, the seat of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's power on Fifth Avenue in New York, on Wednesday afternoon, spurring a massive police reaction to prevent him from climbing further.

Police broke windows and scaled portions of the tower as the man continued to scale the building, reaching a point above the atrium. At approximately 6:33 p.m., after attempting to lure the man inside the tower with a hook on a rope, police officers ditched the carrot approach and simply pulled him inside.

In a statement, Trump Organization executive vice president Michael Cohen said the incident was a "ridiculous and dangerous stunt," according to ABC 7 New York. "There's damage to the building and he caused the unnecessary deployment of New York's finest to protect his safety and the safety of everyone in the building ... I'm 100 percent certain the NYPD had better things to do."
