Bob Menendez Sex Scandal: Senator Allegedly Hired Underage Prostitutes

Impact

Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) is being investigated by the FBI for allegedly hiring underage prostitutes on the Dominican Republic — reported the Daily Caller

According to documents obtained by the Caller, the FBI opened an inquiry on August 1, 2012, "focusing on repeated trips [Sen. Menendez] took to the Dominican Republic" (and the Caller claims it reported in November that "Menendez purchased the service of prostitutes in that Caribbean nation at a series of alcohol-fueled sex parties").

From the DC:

The documents [...] also indicate that Carrie Levine, research director at Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), was alerted on April 9, 2012 to Menendez’s habit of paying for sex while outside the United States.

A source cited by the Caller claims some of the prostitutes allegedly hired by Sen. Menendez could have been "as young 16-years-old," and that the senator was taking "non-authorized trips" to the Dominican Republic (suggesting that he may have been evading Senate Ethics committee rules covering disclosures when third parties pay for a senator’s travel).
