Celebrity Scientologists: 6 Surprising Members Of the Church Of Scientology

What do Betty White, Carson Daly, Rachael Ray, Justin Bieber, and Simon Cowell have in common? I have no idea. I do know, however, that none of them were ever scientologists.

Of course, that separates them from the growing crop of famous figures who do associate with the Church of Scientology. We all know Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Kirstie Alley are part of the religion, but what about the under-the-radar celebrities who call themselves Scientologists?

Take a look at them below.

1. Chaka Khan

She’s queen of funk-soul, and her discography includes massive hits like “I’m Every Woman” and “Tell Me Something Good.” According to the Village Voice, Khan has been a quiet member of the church for a long time.

2. Christopher Reeve

That’s right everyone: Superman was once involved in Scientology, but reportedly left the church after growing frustrated with its views.

3. Jenna Elfman

If you didn’t know, Catholic-born Elfman is an actress on the hilarious new comedy, 1600 Penn. She's also a member of the Church of Scientology and reportedly hopped on board after marrying her husband in the 90s.

4. Brad Pitt

While dating actress Juliette Lewis, the Troy star reportedly completed two
courses with the church, but ditched it after breaking up with her.

5. Nancy Cartwright

Cartwright is the voice actress whose credentials include playing Bart on the amazingly successful show The Simpsons. In 2007, she donated $10 million to the church. I wish I had that much to spend.

6. Erika Christensen

Christensen is best known for her roles in Parenthood, Flight Plan, and Traffic, the last of which got her three awards. In 2004, she came out as a Scientologist to the New York Daily News.
