Intense Raw Videos Show Airstrikes on Gaza and Rockets Fired Into Israel

Impact

The latest violent conflict between Israeli and Palestinian forces is bad and getting worse.

According to Reuters, "Israel says it has struck more than 750 targets in an offensive intended to halt persistent rocket fire at its own civilian population, which escalated after Israeli forces arrested hundreds of Hamas activists in the occupied West Bank following the abduction of the Jewish teenagers."

Armed groups have continued to launch more rockets at Tel Aviv and other cities from the occupied territory. The Guardian reports that more than 400 rockets — with counts as high as 469 — have been fired from Gaza into Israel this week. Dozens have been intercepted by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system system; no injuries have been reported by Israeli officials so far.

The UN Security Council held a closed meeting Thursday morning to decide whether to issue a statement on the conflict.

According to Storyful:

Israel’s Iron Dome defense system intercepted dozens of rockets fired by Hamas militants on July 7. The bombardment was reportedly triggered by IDF air strikes in the Gaza Strip, which killed nine militants in the early hours of Monday morning. Seven rockets were intercepted over Ashod and five over Netivot on Monday evening, according to local media reports. This footage captures air raid sirens sounding over Rehovot, where interceptions and explosions could be seen overhead.
