12-Year-Old Lorde's Cover of "Use Somebody" Proves She Was Destined for Greatness
While most 12-year-olds are busy texting their crushes, Lorde was spending her time ascending to music stardom and recording crazy-amazing covers.
Back in her even younger days, Lorde stopped by a New Zealand radio station for a session and totally crushed the 2008 single "Use Somebody" by the Kings of Leon.
Damn.
Lorde also covered "Mama Do" when she was a wee pre-teen, but her rendition of "Use Somebody" is supreme. She nails the soulfulness of the track while still making it her own. And while she looked like any other 12-year-old at the time, it's clear a music icon was in the making. Thank goodness puberty didn't shock her vocal cords or stunt her talent.
With two Grammys and a debut album that went platinum, the songstress formerly known as Ella Yelich-O'Connor, has proved that she can hold her own. She might have first stepped onto the scene with her hit "Royals," but she has continued to impress fans with tracks off Pure Heroine and the fact that she's curating the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack.
