Ann Curry Today Show Scandal: Savannah Guthrie to Be New Today Show Co Host

Culture

NBC is giving Ann Curry the boot. Sadly, the media scandal is true. Just this morning, Curry announced her departure on air. After having served only one year of her three year contract, NBC has decided to move Ann Curry out of her co-host position on the Today Show. Curry will continue working at NBC, and will still play a substantial role for NBC News.

Today Show viewers need not fear though; Curry’s potential replacement is a force to be reckoned with. Savannah Guthrie has a sassy personality, and great experience that may help the Today Show move its ratings back to the status of their old glory days. Here is what we all need to know about Savannah Guthrie.

Guthrie was born in Australia, and her hometown is Tucson, Arizona. She did her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona, and majored in journalism, and also graduated with honors. Guthrie didn’t stop there, but continued her studies at Georgetown University Law Center (Hoya Saxa!), where she graduated with honors.

Savannah is not new to the game. She is currently the co-host of the third hour of the Today Show, along with Natalie Morales, and Al Roker. Along with that role, she is also the Today Show's shows chief legal correspondent for the news division. Before that, she was the White House correspondent for NBC News and her work earned her the promotions that have placed her where she is today. She is also a member of the bars in Washington, D.C. and Arizona. She likes to stay busy!

There is no doubt that Ann Curry will be missed. Curry made wonderful contributions to the Today Show and numerous other groups as well. However, the time has come to welcome a new chapter of the Today Show, and make room for Guthrie. There is no doubt her work ethic and go-getter attitude will make her a success alongside Matt Lauer. Let’s just hope that she has a longer run that Ann Curry.
