Barack Obama Tops the List of the 5 Most Dangerous Politicians in America

Impact

It should not be hard to come up with a list of -- at least -- the 100 worst American politicians of all times, given the low ratings (and effectiveness) of our elected officials. However, as the November elections approach, some politicians more than others are managing to stand out as the worst examples of public service through their outrageous statements, disregard for the Constitution, and poor decisions.

Following, the top 5 worst American politicians of 2012:

5. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ):

This failed presidential candidate and one-time handler of the running joke, Sarah Palin, is the definition of “neoconservative.”

McCain’s predecessor, the libertarian Barry Goldwater, would spin in his grave had he known what kind of policies the Arizona senator is pushing. John McCain, while normally an unremarkable and rapidly aging suit, has carved out for himself a position as the Republican Party’s chief hawk. His foreign policy could be easily summarized as, “intervention, everywhere, all the time.” And he does not limit himself to foreign conflict. McCain also spouses  domestic oppression, having been a staunch supporter of internet censorship, including SOPA and PIPA.

Recently, I was flipping through radio stations, when I caught a clip of John McCain speaking. He said that we must stop the “systematic torture” of people. For a minute I thought, “Has John McCain actually come out in favor of closing Guantanamo?” Silly me – He was referring to his desire to invade Syria…

4. Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA):

The poster child of American dominionist Christianity, Rick Santorum is this nation’s representative for right-wing bigotry.

While he is not the only homophobic bigot on this list (in fact, they all are), Santorum is the most renowned for this trait. The man who forced his children to play with a dead fetus has spoken openly about his opposition to privacy and the relationships of consenting adults. He believes governments actually should police morality and what happens in the bedroom. To try and justify such, well, insane policies, the ex-congressman equates homosexuality with bestiality and incest.

This, coupled with his support for banning birth control, abortions for victims of incest and rape, and online pornography, helps make our favorite bug-eyed laughing stock one of the silliest theocrats in the American Right.

3. Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT):

In American politics, it takes a truly vile character to unite both Republicans and Democrats under a common banner; and this independent Senator does just that.

Besides being a major conduit for corporate interests, this outcast of the Democratic Party is the most pro-censorship politician on Capitol Hill. During the 1980s, he stood firmly with Tipper Gore (and other political "housewives") in a bid to censor the music industry. The PMRC was successful, as the music industry caved to the pressure, and began labeling and keeping records away from consumers. Lieberman has continued this campaign in the realm of video games.

Currently, Lieberman is a strong ally of John McCain in their mutual support for the Cybersecurity Act, which outlines the means by which Homeland Security will increase spying on citizens online. He also formulated a bill which would implement the “internet kill switch,” allowing the U.S. government to follow the Chinese government's suit and cripple the internet.

And his response when asked about these totalitarian measures? A flippant wave of the hand.

2. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC):

Lindsey Graham is, without a doubt, the most dangerous and deranged senator currently serving. His psychotic, foaming-at-the-mouth tirades over war, terrorism, and rights are truly frightening. An outspoken advocate of immediate war with Iran and other nations, Graham sees the conflicts he helps instigate as an excuse to burn the First Amendment, stating, “Freedom of speech is a great idea but we’re in a war.”

Perhaps, his biggest claim to fame was his babbling defense of the provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which allow for indefinite detention of American citizens without charge or trial. As the senator so eloquently stated, “When they say, ‘I want my lawyer,’ you tell them, ‘shut up! You don’t get a lawyer.”

To call Lindsey Graham a warmonger, or a fascist, or a dangerous psychopath would be an understatement. It might be fair to say that Graham is legitimately, certifiably, evil.

1. President Barack Obama (D):

What makes the sitting president worse than the warmongers, bigots, totalitarians, and sociopaths which precede him on this list? It’s the fact that he has all the power to stop these things from happening, but chooses not to. In fact, his imperial presidency has actively aided such efforts.

Obama was never a peace candidate. He ran on a platform of expanding the war in Afghanistan, and has since then bombed a host of nations, including Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya. His name has become synonymous with drones, which will now be flying over American cities.

On domestic issues, he is even worse. Instead of allowing Bush’s PATRIOT Act to expire, he renewed it; and instead of vetoing NDAA (like he promised), he passed it! The only debate he ever had with congress regarding domestic security was which one of them would have the right to murder American citizens. Obama won that dispute, and continues to add names to his kill list.

The election of Obama did more than usher in an administration obsessed with war, death, and domestic oppression. It also neutered the Left’s anti-war movement, leaving the libertarians as the last anti-war faction in the United States.

With the blood and tears of thousands on his hands, President Barack Obama is, in fact, the most dangerous figure in American politics.
