Watch Jon Stewart Tear Apart Dick Cheney's Defense of the CIA Torture Report

Impact

"Is Dick Cheney a righteous warrior or a psychopath?"

That was this big question Jon Stewart pondered on Monday's Daily Show. The former vice president doubled down on the CIA's brutal enhanced interrogation techniques in a recent Meet the Press interview, telling host Chuck Todd that, with regards to torture, he'd "do it again in a second."

"In my mind, I told you what meets the definition of terrorism," Cheney said. "It's what 19 guys armed with airline tickets and box cutters did to 3,000 Americans on 9/11."

"I see — that's just what meets the definition of torture in his mind," Stewart said. "His mind, I assume, being the scariest fucking place in the universe."

Stewart then pointed toward Cheney's repeated declaration on Meet the Press that he would use these horrendous torture tactics again.

"He's impervious to doubt," Stewart said. "It never enters his mind ... that the confident, plain-spoken of pronouncements of truth are oftentimes complete bullshit."

But it could have been worse, as Stewart implies with a rare compliment to the previous president.

"I'm going to end on a note of gratitude, with something that I thought I would never say: George W. Bush, thank you for not dying while you were in office," he said.
