Clint Eastwood, Sylvestre Stallone, and 5 YouTube Videos Show You Why America is Great

Culture

Wednesday is July 4, a day to celebrate the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

In its 236th year of existence, the United States has reached a digital age, so what better way to celebrate than to make a list of 5 YouTube videos that just scream AMERICA?

1) Rocky Balboa's Training Scene

this clip from Rocky totally pumps me up. From the iconic music and the American flags lining the streets of Philadelphia to Sylvester Stallone and his numerous uppercuts, this video is about as All-American as you can get.

2) Pre-Battle Speech in Independence Day

In this American classic, Bill Pullman, who plays President Thomas J. Whitmore, makes an emotional speech to the army which is about to take part in the final battle against the aliens. The speech finishes with the iconic words, "today, we celebrate our Independence Day!"

3) Coors Light "Here's To Football" Commercial

If one video embodies the American tailgate party and July 4 spirit, this is the video. Any video that rhymes "quarterbacks eating dirt" with "pom poms and short skirts" screams America for sure. Oh, and the twins aren't too bad either.

4) Glory's Fort Wagner Battle Scene

The most historical video in this list by far, this clip allows you to remember and give thanks to those who fought for America's independence. Set during the siege of Fort Wagner, an actual battle in the Civil War, this video is everythin that our Independence Day should be about.

5) Chrysler's Superbowl Commercial "Halftime in America"

Narrated by Clint Eastwood, this is easily one of the best Super Bowl commercials I have ever seen. The commercial parallels halftime in a football game, but focuses on the "breather" that America needs after the Great Recession. With many out of work, "all wondering what they are going to do to make a comeback," the commercial strikes at the core of the "these colors don't run" mentality that embodies American patriotism. The overall message is to focus on what's ahead and how to come together to come from behind, just like in football.
