Ted Nugent: American Government is Socialist

Impact

Ted Nugent, the Detroit-born musician and outspoken conservative activist who received a visit from the Secret Service not long ago for making reference to supposedly beheading the president of the United States, wishes he had a time machine to go back to the Civil War era and bring the Confederates back from defeat.

The controversial rocker is now wondering out loud if a different outcome, in the long and bloody conflict that almost finished the Union, would have protected the legacy of the Founding Fathers better than our current system.

In an op-ed for The Washington Times, Nugent confesses his fear of what he calls "Fedzilla" – or a government with a social safety net. This phobia, increased by the Supreme Court’s recent decision of withholding President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, prompted controversial Nugent to declare, "Because our legislative, judicial and executive branches of government hold the Tenth Amendment in contempt, I’m beginning to wonder if it would have been best had the South won the Civil War.” Wait, what?

Nugent, who also blasts Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid as parts of what he calls “a full-on socialist state,” thinks our Founding Fathers’ concept of limited government is dead as "Our entitlement programs have bankrupted America." He insists, "We have dug a financial crater so deep that many doubt we can ever climb out," and says that -- with his vote to uphold Obamacare -- Chief Justice Roberts gave Fedzilla "an earth mover with which to dig bigger financial holes."

Perhaps, instead of longing for a bygone era and suggesting President Obama has Chief Justice Roberts over for dinner, gives him a ride on Air Force One and apologizes for not voting for him during his confirmation hearings, Nugent should refocus on his failed reality television career and rehire faded reality television bisexual icon and former MySpace "star" Tila Tequila for a new season of Surviving Ted Nugent.
