ESPN Body Issue 2012: Tyson Chandler and the 11 Sexiest Americans in Olympics 2012

Culture

Annually, ESPN The Magazine releases “The Body Issue” in order to celebrate and marvel at the “athletic form…of sports’ finest specimens.”

Of the 27 athletes featured in 2012’s Body Issue, 11 will be representing the United States at the 2012 Summer Olympics later this month.

Whose bodies should Americans be starring at in London?

Here they are:

Men

1) Tim Morehouse – Fencing

Simmer down, ladies. Although only his fencing sabre is visible, you will be able to see a clothed frontal view of Morehouse later this month when he tries to improve on his silver medal-winning performance in Beijing.

2) Ashton Eaton – Decathlon

A real-life Discobolus statue, Eaton is heading to London coming off of a stellar decathlon performance at U.S. Olympic Trials, where he racked up 9,039 points, breaking the world record of 9,026 and American record of 8,891.

3) Tyson Chandler – Basketball

The only true center on the superstar U.S. basketball team headed to London, Chandler stands at a statuesque 7'1''. His biggest challenge later this month will be matching up against the world's tallest and biggest, trying to help replicate the gold they earned in Beijing.

4) Danell Leyva – Gymnastics

Leyva, who won the U.S. Olympic trials earning him an automatic bid to London, is trying to become the first American to medal in individual gymnastics since 1992. His body looks prime for the occasion.

Women

5) Abby Wambach – Soccer

Coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Japanese in the finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup last summer, the U.S. Soccer team, led by a powerful and fit Abby Wambach, looks for redemption in London. In Beijing, they upset the Brazilians to win the gold.

6) Anna Tunnicliffe – Sailing

Reigning gold medalist in women's laser radial sailing class, Tunnicliffe is looking to replicate her performance in a different sailing event: the Elliott 6m class. With those abs, she probably has a pretty good shot.

7) Carmelita Jeter – Track

After a disappointing performance at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, where she did not qualify in either the 100m or 200m sprints, a healthy and revitalized Jeter looks to capitalize on an impressive 10.92s sprint that propelled her to an Olympic birth.

8) Candace Parker – Basketball

Parker, who stands at 6'4'', is one of three centers to represent American in London later this month. She is coming off a stellar 2011 season, averaging 18.5 points per game and 8.6 rebound per game.

9) Destinee Hooker – Indoor Volleyball

Hooker is a 6'4'' opposite attacker that has been a member of the U.S. National Volleyball Team since 2008. A statuesque presence on the court, she looks to help the U.S. improve on their silver medal-performance in Beijing.

10) Megan Hodge – Indoor Volleyball

Hodge, a 6'3'' outside attacker, has been a member of the U.S. National Volleyball Team since 2009. Along with Hooker, she is looking to bring home the gold to the United States for the first time in the event.

11) Oksana Masters – Rowing

Although she's originally from the Ukraine, Masters will compete for the U.S. in mixed doubles rowing in the Paralympic Games. She is a bilateral above knee amputee due to birth defects and will compete with Rob Jones, a fellow bilateral above knee amputee who lost his legs in Afghanistan.
