The Dark Knight Rises Preview: 13 Reasons Why Friday Will Be The Best Day Ever

Culture

The wait is almost over.

On Monday evening in New York City, the stars of the final chapter of the Batman series The Dark Knight Rises will hit the red carpet to watch the world premiere.

Unfortunately, the public will have to wait till Friday (4 days!) to see easily most anticipated movie of the summer.

Here are 13 reasons why Friday is going to be the best day ever:

1) It Is The Last Chapter

Since The Dark Knight in 2008, fans and moviegoers worldwide have been patiently waiting for the final chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Described as "emotional, epic, and entertaining" as well as "potent and provocative," this movie has been 10 years in the making, and should prove to be a satisfying, while edge-of-your-seat exciting finale at the same time.

2) Under Armour Gotham City Apparel

What if you could wear Batman apparel that was actually kinda trendy, sporty and cool? Well, soon you can. Under Armour has recently announced that it will release the "Gotham City Rogues" line following the premiere of the movie. I don't know about you, but I'm pumped!

3) Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway has come a long way since her days as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries. Since then, she has grown up into a very talented and poised actress who I believe will accurately, successfully, and seductively portray Catwoman.

4) Android and iPhone Mobile Video Game

Gameloft has just recently announced that a mobile Dark Knight Rises video game will be released on Friday. What's better than being able to relive your movie experience on your phone in app version? Above is the trailer for the game (it looks pretty sick!).

5) Christian Bale

After an Oscar-winning performance in the critically-acclaimed film The Fighter, Christian Bale is looking to win over the box office once again with his Batman signature raspy and low voice. Fun fact: Bale's closest competition for the role of Batman was Jake Gyllenhaal.

6) An Opportunity To Have Halloween in July

What better way to go to watch the Dark Knight Rises than to go dressed as one of the characters, whether it is in face paint, apparel, or with a DIY car-to-Batmobile transformation project. I know I will be sporting at least a cape and mask.

7) Morgan Freeman

As Mike Myers makes very clear in The Love Guru, there are truly on three categories of voices in the world: men, women, and Morgan Freeman. His voice is in a league of his own, and should be one of the many highlights of the movie.

8) Hans Zimmer's Soundtrack

A successful drama or thriller cannot be so without effective sound and music. Characterized from theatrical and dramatic to mysterious and scary, Hans Zimmer's soundtrack should set the tone for the Batman finale. For more in depth info, check out Sarah Swong's article, which breaks it down track by track.

9) Bane: A New Super Villain

Although I would have definitely enjoyed seeing the next chapter of the Batman-Joker rivalry, a new villain is definitely exciting and fresh. And, better yet, that villain is Bane, the super strong and super smart master of disguise who will certainly make for a challenge for Batman.

10) An Excuse To Have A Movie Night

In order to walk into a movie theater with the right state of mind, it is necessary to freshen up on the other two movies with the Christopher Nolan trilogy: Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008). All you need is a TV, good company, and good eats and you will be all set for an action-packed night ahead.

11) Jam-Packed Action

Who doesn't love a good action movie? And who better to be producing that action than our favorite superhero, Batman. I am 100% positive that Christian Nolan will provide the audience with heart-pounding, breathtaking conflict.

12) Previews

Obviously, the feature film is the main reason why you are at the movie theater in the first place, but previews for upcoming movies can be really exciting. Usually, big name movies have big name movie trailers preceding them, so make sure to get to the movie on time to see what the end of 2012, and 2013 have in store. DKR will showcase the new Superman movie, Man of Steel.

13) The Dark Knight Rises

The first midnight showing worth seeing since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, The Dark Knight Rises should easily be the best movie of the summer, arguably of the year thus far. This movie will further stress why both Spider-Man and Superman have nothing on Batman.
