Emmy Nominations 2012 Full List: Mad Men, Modern Family, and American Horror Story Lead the Pack

This Sunday marks the 64th annual primetime Emmy Awards. Mad Men and Modern Family, last year’s big winners, were once again recognized. This year Mad Men was nominated for 17 awards and Modern Family was nominated for 14. Mad Men is now faced with the opportunity to be the most honored drama in television history. Modern Family was the top sit-com nominee.

American Horror Story also received 17 nominations with notable nods to actresses Jessica Lange and Connie Britton. 

Other leading nominees were the British drama Downton Abbey, with 16 nominations including one for Maggie Smith, and two miniseries were heavily nominated: Hemingway & Gellhorn and Hatfield's & McCoys. 

Women were also well acknowledged with seven women nominated in the leading actress in a comedy series, rather than the usual six. 

Notable newcomers to this year's list of nomiees were Lena Dunham for Girls and Max Greenfield for his role on New Girl.   

Notable snubs were Parks and Recreation, which did not receive a comedy bid, and Glee which has been quickly slipping in the favor of the critic. The list of nominees is below:
