7 Best Justin Bieber Duets of All Time

Culture

What would happen if you took Justin Bieber, arguably the most popular teen pop musician of today’s music industry, and Carly Rae Jepsen, by far the biggest breakout star of this year?

Something really epic.

According to MTV, Jepsen is getting excited about a studio album she will release this September, which will include collaborations with Redfoo from LMFAO as well as one with none other than Bieber. However, she is “sworn to secrecy” about the Bieber duet because they want to release it simultaneously when the track is 100% ready.

In fact, to date, Justin Bieber, like many artists in the modern music industry, has had much success with the several collaborations he has done since the release of his two-part debut album My World and My World 2.0 released in late 2009 and early 2010, respectively; many of these duets have gone platinum in the U.S., some even triple platinum. However, I would argue that by combining the Bieber brand name and the fan base of the collaborating the artist it is impossible for the song not to be an instant success.

So, what better way to prepare for an epic Jepsen-Bieber duet than to make a list of Bieber’s best collaborations to date? Below is a list of seven of his finest:

1. “Baby” featuring Ludacris

Probably the song that most people associate with Bieber is "Baby," the first single he released off the second installment of his debut album. Given that the video has over three-quarters of a billion views on YouTube, it speaks for itself.

2. “Eenie Meenie” with Sean Kingston

Adding Sean Kingston's Carribean flair to Justin Bieber's R&B flavor makes for an instant party favorite. Along with the strong vocals of Bieber, he even has a little, surprise rapping cameo!

3. “Somebody to Love (Remix)” with Usher

If Bieber's first rendition of this addictive track wasn't enough, he later released a collaboration with mentor Usher. In the song, their two voices really play off of one another given their collective soul.

4. “Never Say Never” featuring Jaden Smith

The track, which was recorded for 2010 remake of The Karate Kid, truly showcases young American music. Between Bieber's R&B vocals and the endearing, catchy rap interlude of Jaden Smith, son of Will and star of "The Karate Kid," the song is certainly memorable.

5. “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)” featuring Usher

Off of his holiday album Under the Mistletoe, Bieber's and Usher's rendition of this Christmas classic just screams soulful. Between the higher register of Bieber and Usher's lower one, the song really takes off when the two sing together.

6. “As Long As You Love Me” featuring Big Sean

One of the two singles he released off of his newest album, Believe, "As Long As You Love Me" has a strong dubstep feel to it, something that we have not seen from Bieber up to this date. However, the track nevertheless upholds classic JB with a smooth R&B verse.

7. “All Around the World” featuring Ludacris

In the words of Ludacris in the song, "the dynamic duo is back at it." More of a club/dance track, the song is very catchy from its strong beat to its catchy chorus. In my opinion, it is arguably the best of those on his new studio album Believe.
