Emilia Clarke May Have Just Spoiled the Return of Jon Snow on 'Game of Thrones'

Cast, crew and even finale director David Nutter have been remarkably consistent on shutting down one line of inquiry into Game of Thrones' season five finale: that Jon Snow could possibly still be alive, somehow. Officially, the word is that Kit Harington's northern hero is permanently dead.

Of course, fans are pretty skeptical that the show would really kill off a character as crucial to the plot as other key players like Tyrion Lannister or Daenerys Targaryen — and at least one of the stars agrees with them.

During an interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz, Daenerys Targaryen actress Emilia Clarke admitted that she was not buying the official line either, giving it a "50-50 chance" that Snow would be resurrected by a very helpful servant of R'hllor who just so happens to be heading towards Castle Black.

But before your heads explode like a Dornish prince's, there's one unfortunately major clarification to make: Clarke went out of her way to note that like the late Snow, she knows nothing about what is actually going to happen.

The shows' creators "know that I can't lie very well," Clarke added, noting that "I can, with all honesty, say I have no idea what's happening."

So this mystery won't finally be resolved until the release of the next season or until someone spies Kit Harington sneaking back onto an HBO set. Fans of the A Song of Ice and Fire books can brace themselves, because there remains virtually no chance that George R.R. Martin will leak the answer in the form of a sixth book before then.
