It's official: Mulder and Scully are back.

Ever since X-Files producer and creator Chris Carter announced in March that the popular, nine-year science-fiction series would return to TV as a miniseries, fans have been clamoring for a sneak peek.

Fox released a first look at the show's long-awaited return in the form of a punchy, 15-second video. The short but grabbing peek into the return of the series shows both Mulder and Scully in classic X-Files attitude, aiming their guns and investigating somewhere seemingly dark and eerie.

The original TV series, about two FBI special agents assigned to work together on unsolved cases surrounding paranormal phenomenas and aired from Sept. 10, 1993 to May 19, 2002 on Fox, developed a cult-like following in 202 episodes. X-Files was also widely critically acclaimed, raking up 16 Emmy Awards and 62 Emmy nominations.

The miniseries will be comprised of six episodes, each telling a different story. Carter says it's appropriate the show returns now, considering the way global events have transpired. He tells Rolling Stone, "I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."
