Brangelina Wedding Rumors: George Clooney on the Guest List Fuels Marriage Speculation

It’s finally happening … we hope. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are rumored to be having their wedding this weekend at their home in France. Rumors began when family and close friends of the couple began arriving at their French chateau for a “huge party.” Locals have also noticed the construction of a private chapel on Pitt and Jolie’s $55 million estate. This, in addition to all the special guests, give reason to believe that this weekend will be the big day for the couple.

Pitt may have felt some pressure to make it official with Jolie from his mom, Jane Pitt. For years, the couple publicly stated that they would not get married until it was legal for all people to get married –– i.e. until gay marriage was legalized. Although the couple has been staunch advocates for legalizing gay marriage, his mom wrote a letter to her local paper stating that she was not in favor of legal homosexual unions and was pro-Mitt Romney in election 2012. That said, his mother might have had some kind of influence on Pitt’s decision to finally get tie the knot.

Pitt and Jolie have been together since 2005, when they met onset of their movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Despite having a large globetrotting brood, they’ve only been engaged since April. Both may have been a little skeptical about the need for marriage considering the outcomes of their previous (and very public) divorces. However, Pitt revealed that their children wanted the couple to make their union more official, so Pitt finally proposed to Jolie with a stellar $250,000 engagement ring.

The party is said to be a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for Pitt’s parents, Jane and Bill, but with guest like Pitt’s close pal George Clooney, it could be another kind of wedding celebration.
