Kanye West Admires 2016 Republican Candidate Ben Carson as "The Most Brilliant Guy"

Rapper and fashion designer Kanye West confessed his admiration for 2016 Republican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson during an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair about his new clothing line.

"As soon as I heard Carson speak, I tried for three weeks to get on the phone with him," West told Vanity Fair. "I was like, 'This is the most brilliant guy.'" Carson, a former neurosurgeon, recently came under fire for saying Muslims couldn't serve as president of the United States.

Speaking about the primaries in general, West said he thought "all the people running right now have something that each of the others needs."

"The idea of this separation and this gladiator battle takes away from the main focus that the world needs help," West said. We feel you, West. In a perfect world.

In case you thought #Kanye2020 was a joke, West confirmed to Vanity Fair that he's "definitely" still thinking of running in 2020. If he does, he said he'd rather "work with" his opponents than "run against them."

West originally announced his bid for a 2020 presidency during a 15-minute acceptance speech for the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 30, during which he admitted to being a bit stoned.
