Bernie Sanders: America Is "Sick and Tired of Hearing About Your Damn Emails"

Impact

Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders just one-upped Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton's own answer in the first Democratic debate to a question about the controversy over her use of a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state.

"Well, I've taken responsibility for it, I did say it was a mistake, what I did was allowed by the State Department but it wasn't the best choice," Clinton said in response to a question from moderator Anderson Cooper. "And I've been as transparent as I know to be, turning over 55,000 pages of emails, asking that they be made public."

Clinton emphasized that she wished to be transparent about the issue and said she would be testifying before Congress, before Sanders cut in:

Giphy

"Let me say something that may not be great politics, but the secretary is right. The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!" Sanders said to thunderous applause.

"Enough of the emails, let's talk about the real issues facing the United States of America," the Vermont senator continued.

"Secretary Clinton, do you want to respond?" Cooper asked a few moments later.

"No," said a clearly pleased Clinton.

Boom.
