When Is the NYC Halloween Parade 2015? Start Time and What to Know About the Spooky Event

Impact

Nearly 50,000 people will flock to New York City on Saturday for the Village Halloween Parade, the 42nd annual event featuring wild costumes, creative art and over 50 musical acts. The event begins on 6th avenue at 7 p.m. Eastern.

Artistic and producing director Jeanne Fleming will lead the spooky parade with the theme of "Shine a Light!" "In times of darkness, we bring the light!" a note on the parade website reads. "Or as Martin Luther King says: 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.'"

Attendees, as well as those hoping to catch a glimpse of the parade, can see it from Spring Street to 16th Street between 7 and 10:30 p.m. Eastern. The Village Halloween Parade will also run on local news network Channel 1 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Eastern.

Anyone hoping to walk in the parade should put on a costume and head to 6th Avenue, near Canal Street, 30 minutes before the parade starts. Although the 2015 theme seems somewhat open-ended, a photo on the site shows an angelic knight dressed in all-white armor and wings. However, the theme isn't necessarily binding, as attendees are encouraged to dress however they like.
