New 'Concussion' Trailer Is Another Look at Upcoming Film Starring Will Smith

Impact

Sony Pictures Entertainment released a second trailer for the film Concussion, starring Will Smith, via YouTube Thursday, giving movie buffs another look at the film's plot and characters. The film, directed by Peter Landesman, is set for release in the United States on Dec. 25.

Concussion centers around Smith's character, who discovers a brain degenerating disease known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy often caused by sport-related injuries, particularly in football. The plot of the film is based on the true story of Bennet Omalu, a neuropathologist whose revealing findings about football and injuries sustained by NFL players made national headlines in 2002, Bustle reports.

"This is not a movie that is intended to take down the NFL or destroy football," Landesman told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published in September. He described the film as "more as a whistle-blower story, rather than a condemnation of football or the league."
