Watch Nearly Every Classic Film Character Chip in to Sing Adele's "Hello"

Culture

There's something about Adele's "Hello." When that familiar voice creeps in asking you to sit and reminisce about the old times, good and bad, it's hard not to get that warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feeling.

A new mash-up video takes that nostalgia to another level, swapping out Adele's golden pipes for those of characters from dozens of classic films. Luke Skywalker, Raoul Duke, Garth, Jon Connor and even E.T. all appear to ask if after all this time you'd like to meet.

Put together by Matthijs Volt, it's far from the first major movie-music mash-up he's done. He's actually done "Hello" once before — Lionel Richie's "Hello" — in 2012. He's cut up Lance Armstrong interviews to have him recite Radiohead's "Creep" and speeches of President Barack Obama into Michael Jackson's "Thriller." In 2013, he searched through major classic films to splice together every instance of a character saying "I Love You."

For all these mash-ups lose in musicality, they make up for some serious nostalgic draw. This "Hello" is particularly fine, with all our favorite characters giving viewers such a great pleasant hello from the other side of the silver screen. Watch it below.
