Mark Zuckerberg Is Running 365 Miles This Year and Wants You to Join Him

Impact

Mark Zuckerberg has a challenge for you. No, you won't get $4.5 billion for completing it. But you'll probably get into better shape.

The proud new papa took to Facebook Monday night to announce one of his goals for 2016: to run 365 miles over the course of the year. Oh — and he'd like all of us to do it, too.

"I'm going to run 365 miles and I'd love for as many people in this community to join me as possible," Zuckerberg wrote.

"This is a lot of running, but it's not a crazy amount," Zuckerberg wrote. "It's a mile a day, and at a moderate pace it's less than 10 minutes of running per day."

Facebook

Zuckerberg has dubbed the challenge "A Year of Running" — modeling it after last year's initiative, "A Year of Books." He's even created a public Facebook group for it, "where we can all discuss our running adventures and I'll post periodically on my progress."

Don't think you can handle running every single day? You could try doing two 2-mile jogs during the work week and a 3-miler on the weekend. You could even set aside time every weekend to do one long 7-mile run.

Or you could — for the most advanced procrastinators of all — wait until there are two weeks left in the year and run a marathon every day.
