Texas Judge Claims Tax Raise Needed to Prevent Civil War if Obama is Reelected

A Texas judge suggested that Obama is conspiring with the UN to take over America.

Tom Head, a county judge in Lubbock, Texas, said “He's going to try to hand over the sovereignty of the United States to the UN, and what is going to happen when that happens?” Head asked. “I'm thinking the worst. Civil unrest, civil disobedience, civil war maybe. And we're not just talking a few riots here and demonstrations, we're talking Lexington, Concord, take up arms and get rid of the guy."

Do not dismiss these comments as the bloviating of a small town, country judge. There is a growing sentiment in the country that the U.S. is conspiring with the UN to take away our sovereign rights.

In an article written by Evan McMorris-Santoro for Talking Points Memo, Santoro notes that “ In recent years, UN conspiracy theories have centered on the idea that the organization is trying to take away Americans’ rights — including the rights to bear armsown property and raise kids the way parents see fit.”

He further notes that Mitt Romney has given credence to many conspiracy theories regarding the UN Romney has said, “Turning to the United Nations to tell us how to raise our kids, or whether we can have the Second Amendment rights that our Constitution gave us, I mean these, that is the wrong way to go, all right. Do not cede sovereignty, I’m happy to talk to people there, I’m not willing to give American sovereignty in any way shape or form to the United Nations or any other body, we are a free nation, we fought for freedom and independence, we’re going to keep freedom and independence.”

The tip of the iceberg for these conspiracy theories is a 20-year old plan for sustainable growth that came out of the United Nations known as Agenda 21. Sustainable development is a pattern of economic growth in which resource use aims to meet human needs while preserving the environment so that these needs can be met not only in the present, but also for generations to come.

According to Esquire magazine “an increasing number of more mainstream conservatives — including Fox News, Newt Gingrich, and, rhetorically anyway, the Republican National Committee which, in January, called Agenda 21 "destructive and insidious" — see a worldwide plot to destroy private property rights and force upon us all a one-world government of "the elites" through radical environmentalism, forcing us all to live in the regimented hellholes of our cities.”  Funding for the plan has been traced to George Soros and that alone gives those on the right reason to be suspicious of its goals.

Conspiracy theorists are particularly concerned with their belief that Obama is conspiring with the UN to take away Second Amendment rights to bear arms. Chuck Norris, legendary martial artist and film actor and long a proponent of Second Amendment rights believes that the Obama Administration is “working under the radar” with the UN to increase gun control laws in the states. He wrote, “For an administration with a secretive itch for gun control, the situation is ideal. They can let the United Nations do the dirty work of drafting onerous new restrictions on civilian firearms, then package them inside a treaty with legitimate measures to control true military armaments.”

Others have pointed to cross-training exercises in America between our military troops and other countries as proof that the UN peacekeeping forces are prepared to invade American cities to quell domestic and civil unrest.

Tom Deweese , the founder and president of the American Policy Center in speaking about Agenda 21 said, “It sounds so friendly. So meaningful. So urgent. But the devastation to our liberty and way of life is the same as if Lenin ordered it.” Deweese wrote in an article for New American, “We oppose Agenda 21 precisely because it represents the exact opposite view of government.”

According to the UN, Agenda 21 is a non-binding resolution not a treaty. It carries no legal authority from which any nation is bound to act. It has no teeth. Supporters do not believe that we will ever see “Blue-Helmeted” UN troops at City Hall. They believe Judge Head is wrong to use the threat of civil war to justify an increase in property taxes. Grace Rogers, a retired teacher, addressed local leaders in Lubbock, TX.

Rogers said she supported the idea of increasing the property tax to 34.6 cents per $100 valuation from 32.9 cents to finance the hiring of additional sheriff’s deputies — with one reservation. It was that, she said, “It does not fund a paramilitary to create an insurrection and rebellion against the United States.”
