If what you're looking for is omega-3 fatty acids, which according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine have been found to lower cholesterol and reduce blood pressure, you'll want a fatty fish. The Mayo Clinic names "salmon, lake trout, herring, sardines and albacore tuna" as fish that are high in omega-3s.

If you want to make sure your choices are good for your body as well as the planet, Seafood Watch, a program from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, issues recommendations for "ocean-friendly" seafood choices. Some of the types of fish that the program names as "best choices" include farmed Arctic char, catfish, Alaskan salmon, Pacific cod, tilapia and farmed rainbow trout.
