What Time Do the 2016 Oscars Start?

All eyes are on the 88th Academy Awards this weekend. The award show, also known as the Oscars, will air live on Sunday on ABC. According to the official website, the 88th Academy Awards ceremony will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories across the world.

Viewers can watch the celebrities hit the red carpet at 7 p.m. Eastern, while the actual ceremony begins at 8:30 p.m. Eastern at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. Returning to the stage to host the awards will be comedian Chris Rock, who hosted the 77th Academy Awards in 2005.

The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, leads for total nominations with 12. DiCaprio has never won an Oscar but is predicted to take one home Sunday. Mad Max: Fury Road, which we believe deserves a serious nod for best picture, has 10 nominations. The Martian was nominated seven times, and Bridge of Spies, Carol and Spotlight were each nominated six times.
