Chris Rock Asked Black People What They Thought About #OscarsSoWhite

In a callback to a segment from his last Oscars hosting gig in 2005, Oscars host Chris Rock went to a movie theater in Compton, California, to ask black moviegoers what they thought about all white actors being nominated for the Oscar, as well as the #OscarsSoWhite controversy in general.

Here are some of the reactions Rock received when he asked moviegoers about the lack of black-nominated films.

Aside from the problems with the nominees, Rock asked some of them whether they had even heard of the nominated films.

"You see, um, Spotlight?" Rock asks one of the moviegoers. "No ... what the hell is that?" he responds.

The sketch underscored a theme that Rock struck several times throughout the night. Rock used both his opening monologue as well as a series of sketches earlier in the night that addressed the problem with diversity in Hollywood.
