Healthy living isn't something you can accomplish with just one easy trick — but there are some simple habits that, when combined, can keep you feeling great and living better. The key is knowing what they are – and then doing them (obviously).

Sleep more

We know, we know, it's not easy to make time for sleep. Busy schedules and lots of digital distractions keep us from getting the hours we need. But sleep is incredibly important for maintaining healthy brain function, physical health and even a good sex life. The National Sleep Foundation recommends seven to nine hours of sleep per night for adults.

Exercise (at least a little)

You probably already know that exercise is good for you (and you probably already feel guilty for not going to the gym enough). But even just a small amount of activity each day is a great habit to get into. The Mayo Clinic recommends aiming for "at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day." That can be a brisk walk, a few laps in the pool, or even just taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Every little bit counts! 

Drink more water

According to the Mayo Clinic, the Institute of Medicine recommends drinking about nine cups of liquid a day for women and 13 for men. While it may seem like a challenge to remember to drink more water, keeping a reusable water bottle in your bag or on your desk during the day helps as a reminder. Another tip for drinking more water? Replace some of your current drink choices, like soda or juice, with regular or sparking water. Your body will thank you.

Eat as well as you can

Eating well is easier said than done, but there are some simple steps you can take to give your body the best fuel possible. The World Health Organization recommends a diet that contains at least five portions of fruits and vegetables per day (sorry, potatoes don't count) and is rich with whole grains and unsaturated fats.
