Ann Romney and Other RNC Women Attacked By the Left: 6 Ways Liberal Extremists are Just Like Domestic Abusers
Male and female leftists have been tweeting overtime with threats and verbal abuse against women at the Republican National Convention: Ann Romney death threats, Mia Love's Wikipedia page hack, a resurrection of the ancient slurs against Condoleezza Rice, and Kelly Ayotte hate tweets show the ugly underside of an abusive subset of "liberal" America.
These tweeters, whether male or female, "white," "black," or "brown," believe it is socially acceptable to make these statements. They probably think they are scoring points with their "friends" (I use that term loosely). Like all abusers, the abuse isn't coming from a sense of strength, confidence and security. It's coming out of deep-seated fear. Maybe even terror.
These behaviors exactly mirror the behaviors of domestic abusers.
According to psychotherapist Jeanne Segal, one of the co-founders of Helpguide.org, "Emotional abuse includes verbal abuse such as yelling, name-calling, blaming, and shaming. Isolation, intimidation, and controlling behavior also fall under emotional abuse. Additionally, abusers who use emotional or psychological abuse often throw in threats of physical violence or other repercussions if you don’t do what they want."
Tactics used by abusers to control others include:

It isn't any more pleasant to look at these "expressions" than it is to talk to a real abuse victim in real life. Domestic violence and child abuse was swept under the rug for generations. Even today, abuse victims, both male and female, experience shame that prevents them from seeking aid or trying to leave the abusive situation.
Another tactic used by abusers is silencing. The last thing the abuser wants is for victims to have contact with others, as they might reveal how they've been abused. In this tactic, networks such as ABC and media portals like Yahoo! News have been complicit, airing an opposing male commenter over New Mexico governor Susana Martinez's entire speech, and showing only two minutes of Condoleezza Rice's address.
Taken individually, denial and blame is still relatively easy for those on the left. However, taken as a group, the pattern is more than evident.
