'The Walking Dead' Finale Spoilers: Leaked Trailer Offers First Glimpse of Negan

Culture

We're still over a week away from the 90-minute season finale of The Walking Dead, which will introduce Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the group to the series' most menacing villain to date: Negan, who will be portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan. However, an international teaser trailer has given fans the first glimpse of the character, and most importantly, his signature weapon.

(Editor's note: Spoilers for the comic books and the TV series ahead.)

The trailer, which aired in the Netherlands, briefly shows the back of the character before Morgan calmly says, "Hi, I'm Negan." The video then cuts to the characters trademark weapon, Lucille: a barbed wire-laced baseball bat, which he uses in the comics book for a gruesome death of a major character.

While it's unclear whether the TV adaptation will stick to the comic book and kill off Glenn (Steven Yuen), there are theories that the show might swap out Glenn for another character to be on the wrong end of the iconic scene. What we do know is that whatever happens in the finale, it had a chilling effect on members of the cast.

"I felt sick to my stomach when I read the [finale] script," Lincoln told Entertainment Weekly. "It was the first day in the whole six years of working on The Walking Dead that I was late for work because I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't get back to sleep. I was so angry and frustrated and I felt sick. And that was just after reading it."

The penultimate episode of the sixth season of The Walking Dead will air March 27 at 9 p.m. Eastern on AMC. Check out the teaser trailer for the season six finale below.
