Florida Gov. Rick Scott Was Gloriously Taken Down by a Woman in Starbucks

Impact

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, the former shady health care CEO who is best known outside the South for his resemblance to Skeletor, recently walked into a Gainesville Starbucks with the apparent intent of getting a cup of coffee.

What he got instead was a cup full of sass — or, if you prefer, a double sasspresso — courtesy of a local woman who unloaded on Scott for his opposition to Florida accepting federal Medicaid expansion funds and restricting access to women's health care services.

And, thankfully, we can watch it all happen:

"You cut Medicaid so I couldn't get Obamacare!" Cara Jennings yells at the governor. "You're an asshole! You don't care about working people. ... You should be ashamed to show your face around here."

Scott engaged Jennings, insisting he has created a "million jobs." But Jennings wasn't done.

"A million jobs? Great, who here has a great job, or is looking forward to finishing school? Do you really feel like you have a job coming up?"

A visibly flustered Scott was barely able to say anything before Jennings launched into another criticism of Scott's position on abortion. The governor recently signed a bill requiring all abortion clinics to have admitting privileges or transfer agreements at local hospitals. Critics say a similar law in Texas shut down about 20 abortion clinics, many of which provided a variety of non-abortion health services, according to the Miami Herald.

"Shame on you Rick Scott," Jennings added. "We depend on those services. Rich people like you don't know what to do! When poor people like us need health services you cut them. Shame on you Rick Scott! You're an embarrassment to our state!"

Jennings told ABC Action News she was a stay at home mom in Lake Worth and was at the Starbucks to work on her laptop when Scott walked in.

"I didn't think about whether I should do it or not," she said. "I thought, 'Here's my chance to tell the governor how I feel about the horrible bill.'"

Scott, who was narrowly re-elected in 2014 despite high disapproval ratings, recently endorsed real estate billionaire Donald Trump for president.
