The #FireSprayChallenge Has Teens Accidentally Setting Themselves on Fire on Instagram
In the latest installment of "Teenagers Doing Ridiculous Things," teens are filming themselves doing the #FireSprayChallenge, which involves spraying an aerosol can into an open flame to produce a shot of fire. The downside to this well-thought out challenge? The teens are sometimes accidentally burning themselves or setting themselves on fire.
All that's required to potentially singe off your eyebrows in pursuit of Instagram likes is a lighter and a can of hairspray.
The origins of the #FireSprayChallenge may be a little hazy (perhaps from burning skin) but it's not unusual for teens to take on potentially dangerous challenges for social media fame. The similarly named Fire Challenge — where one douses themselves in lighter fluid then purposely sets themselves on fire — left a teen on life support in October, according to the NY Daily News.
As the saying goes, if you play with fire, you'll eventually get burned.
