Jerusalem Bombing: Latest News on Bus Explosion That Left Around 20 Dead or Wounded

An explosion on a bus in Jerusalem injured 16 people Monday, Reuters reported, citing Israeli media. 

According to Channel 1 deputy editor Amichai Stein, police initially did not reach a conclusion but concluded the blast was the result of a small explosive device aboard the bus. While authorities have yet to pinpoint the cause or motive for the blast, officials say terrorism hasn't been ruled out, according to the Times of Israel.  

According to Haaretz's Allyn Fisher-Ilan, the bus may have been empty at the time of the incident. The Jerusalem Post the injuries (including two people left in critical condition) occurred after a nearby bus was damaged.

Photos from the scene showed wounded victims, as well as smoke and firing pouring out of one bus. The flames were intense enough to scorch other vehicles stopped nearby.
