Ted Cruz Uses Donald Trump Dressing as Hillary Clinton to Support North Carolina's HB2

Impact

During a rally Saturday at Lebanon, Indiana, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz compared transgender people using their desired bathroom to Donald Trump dressing up as Hillary Clinton and using the girls' restroom, BuzzFeed reported. "So let me make things real simple: Even if Donald Trump dresses up as Hillary Clinton, he shouldn't be using the girls' restroom," Cruz said, according to BuzzFeed. Then he apologized for the mental image of "Donald in a bright blue pantsuit."

The comment was for the "folks in the media who find this conversation very confusing," with the "conversation" being North Carolina's controversial bathroom bill, which restricts people to using the bathroom that associates with their gender assigned at birth.

On NBC's Today, Trump spoke out against the anti-LGBTQ bill, in which he said "there has been so little trouble" before the bill's enactment.

"I'm the father of two little girls," Cruz said about the bill at a campaign rally later in Maryland, according to BuzzFeed. "Here is basic common sense: Grown adult men, strangers, should not be alone in a bathroom with little girls."
