Donald John Trump Sr. is going to be the 2016 Republican nominee for president.

In a campaign stretching on for more than a year, Trump laid waste to the most accomplished bench of veteran GOP candidates in a generation. With the departure of his last serious remaining rival, Ted Cruz, on Tuesday, the real estate billionaire now stands virtually unopposed in his march to the nomination.

Trump's victory comes despite a seemingly endless litany of less-than-presidential moments. The list is frankly too long for any single article, with examples stretching back to the 1970s

2. That time he mocked a disabled reporter in front of thousands of people:

3. That time he called Mexicans rapists...

4. That time he said Cruz's father probably helped kill J.F.K.:

5. That time he said he would like John McCain more if he didn't get captured in Vietnam:

So, congratulations. We guess.

See you at the polls!
