50 Shades of Grey Movie Cast: Liam and Chris Hemsworth to Play Christian and Elliot Grey

Culture

Though speculation about who will play Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of E.L. James' BSDM novel Fifty Shades of Grey has centered on a trifecta of Hollywood A-listers -- namely, The Notebook's Ryan Gosling, Man of Steel's Henry Cavill and White Collar's Matt Bomer -- there is a second tear of potential candidates whose names are occasionally tossed around by Fifty Shades experts and fans alike.

One of these promising stars is 29-year-old Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, known for playing George Kirk in Star Trek, Thor in ThorThor: The Dark World and The Avengers, and "The Huntsman" in Snow White & The Huntsman -- the controversial film in which set Twilight's Kirsten Stewart cheated on co-star and real-life boyfriend Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders.

At 6'4", Hemsworth would provide the imposing physique E.L. James says the fictional character of Christian Grey posses in the book. He also comes with a set of deep blue eyes that would come in handy during the book's episodes -- and upcoming movie scenes -- where Grey seduces and hypnotizes Anastasia Steel into following him to the "Red Room of Pain" and submitting to his darkest fantasies.

Best of all, Hemsworth could bring his 22-year-old brother Liam along (the The Hunger GamesThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire and The Expendables 2 star who is also famous for being the fiancée of pop star Miley Cyrus) to play Grey's brother Elliot (or Liam could play Christian while Chris plays Elliot; it's nonetheless a two-for-one tempting proposition for the producers of the film).

However, the Hemsworth brothers would have to overcome stiff competition not only from the Cavill-Gosling-Bomer trifecta but also from other second-tierers such as True Blood's Aleksander Skarsgard and Magic Mike's Channing Tatum who -- just like politicians when they're rumored to run for office -- haven't confirmed nor denied yet their interest in the most coveted and highly anticipated role of the decade.
