Who Said It: Khloé Kardashian or a Buddhist Nun?

Impact

Hello, and welcome to Who Said It?

Today we are exploring four very good pieces of advice for anyone struggling to heal from a recent breakup. Two of these quotes are from beloved Tibetan Buddhist thought leader Pema Chödrön, while the other two are from Khloé Kardashian, who has recently been building her own reputation as a relationship guru.

Can you guess who said which quote?

1. "We all heal on our own time."

I don't believe that there is a timeline for grieving or healing or getting over someone or something. I think that we all heal on our own time — some are faster than others, and I think some loves are really just harder to get over than others.

2. "The truth is that things don't really get solved."

Things falling apart is a kind of testing and also a kind of healing. We think that the point is to pass the test or to overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy.

3. "You can still love them from a distance."

You don't technically always have to fully get over someone. It's okay to move on from them, but you can still love them from a distance. If people are destructive to you emotionally, that still doesn't mean you can't love them — you just have to learn to take better care of yourself.

4. "We could acknowledge that right now we feel like a piece of shit."

Rather than letting our negativity get the better of us, we could acknowledge that right now we feel like a piece of shit and not be squeamish about taking a good look.

Let's see how you did!

Khloé Kardashian said quotes #1 and #3 in a recent blog post on her website, while both #2 and #4 were lifted from Pema Chödrön's bestselling book When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times.
