Hockey Player Joel Ward Decided to Give Himself a Manicure During the Stanley Cup Finals

Impact

We've all been there: You're in the middle of game three of the Stanley Cup, your team is down 2-0 in the series, you just scored the tying goal, giving your team a chance of winning the game and all that's on your mind is giving your nails a quick trim.

OK, maybe we all haven't been there. In fact, maybe none of us have been there except for San Jose Sharks' right winger Joel Ward, who sensibly decided to give himself a manicure on the bench after renewing hope for his team's continued life in the seven-game playoff — call it a post-score celebratory ritual.

After all, no one favors keeping a long-suffering hangnail.

It turned out to be a lucky trim, as Ward's team went on to win the game in overtime. Could this be the start of a new mid-game tradition? Here's hoping.
