Donald Trump Will Reportedly Announce Vice Presidential Running Mate Within Next 2 Weeks

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will announce his vice presidential pick before the Republican National Convention, the New York Times reported Friday.

The Trump campaign initially intended to make the vice presidential announcement at the convention, but a Trump campaign aide told the Times that the vice presidential pick will now be made public before Republicans gather in Cleveland from July 18 to 21.

Trump's vice presidential short-list includes a handful of current and former elected officials.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions are all being considered, according to multiple news reports.

Another name also surfaced Thursday, when NBC News reported Indiana Gov. Mike Pence — who gained national prominence during the flap over Indiana's religious freedom bill, which some said would lead businesses in the state to unfairly treat the LGBT community — is also being considered for the role.
