Donald Trump Sues Ex-Aide Sam Nunberg for $10 Million, Alleging Breach of Confidentiality

Impact

Donald Trump, the famously litigious presumptive presidential nominee of the Republican Party, has filed a $10 million lawsuit against a former aide alleging violation of a confidentiality agreement, according to multiple reports on Wednesday.

The Associated Press broke the news of the lawsuit. A source close to Trump told Mic the ex-aide is Sam Nunberg, whom Trump fired in August amid a raging controversy over Nunberg's past racially inflammatory Facebook posts. The AP also named Nunberg as the target of the lawsuit.

The source, who was granted anonymity to discuss legal proceedings, said, "The papers in the lawsuit threaten to expose a number of things in the Trump campaign that are embarrassing, such as sexual relationships between very top staff."

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The source said while Nunberg may have a reputation for off-color language and tactics, "he's no dummy and he's a lawyer himself. I don't know why the Trump people want this sideshow."

According to the AP, "Nunberg accused Trump of trying to silence him 'in a misguided attempt to cover up media coverage of an apparent affair' between senior campaign staffers. The document cited a New York Post story about a public quarrel between the staffers published last month."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
