The past year of television had no shortage of compelling comedies and dramas, and the 2016 Emmy Awards nominees exemplify this. On Thursday, the nominations were announced by Anthony Anderson of ABC's Black-ish and Lauren Graham (yes, because Gilmore Girls is coming back to Netflix!).

Game of Thrones leads the field with 23 total nominations, including for actors Maisie Williams, Kit Harington, Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and Emilia Clarke.
