NBC's Revolution, the upcoming sci-fi television event created by Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and which pilot was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man) premieres tonight after The Voice and -- according to the review by PolicyMic's television critic Daniel Tanure, and the hype that is generating online -- it's set to become one of Fall 2012's big television hits.

The show, which takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where an unknown phenomenon that disables all advanced technology on the planet (computers, electronics, car and jet engines) forces people to survive in a world without technology ruled by warlords and militias, stars Billy Burke (Twilight), Tracy Spiridakos (Mortal Kombat) and Anna Lise Phillips (Wild Side).

From Tanure's review:

"Apparently, TV’s been up to some interesting stuff while I wasn’t looking. TV episodes are much cheaper to make: Even if they are blockbuster-style vampire explosion fests, the audience doesn’t demand production values as massive as what they expect from cinema, (since it’s harder to notice on a smaller screen anyway,) so the producers are allowed to take more chances.

That’s why while Hollywood’s idea of high-concept is Alien vs. PredatorMonsters vs. Aliens, and Cowboys & Aliens, in TV you have stuff like LostOnce Upon a TimeFirefly and, now, Revolution."
