Fall TV Premiere Schedule: Revolution TV Show Premiere, Parks and Recreation, Treme and the 6 Shows You Must Watch This Week

Culture

We are now officially in the second week of fall TV premieres and so far the new shows have run the gamut. We've had some studs (Go On), some duds (Guys with Kids), and some ol' faithfuls (Glee). We also had the week's crowning jewel which came in the form of an SNL premiere that was better than most. As we settle into our couches for week two of the fall premieres here are 6 shows that you just can't miss.

1. Revolution

When's it on? Mondays at 10 p.m. on NBC. Season premiere is Sept. 17.

What is it? A sci-fi drama with the best TV premise this season: The world, with seemingly no explanation, is suddenly thrust into the dark ages. Electricity shuts off, planes fall from the sky, communication is completely impossible. Sunshine during the day and candles at night. And no one knows why ...

Why should I watch? I mean, could that premise sound any cooler? If that's not enough, Jon Favreau directed the pilot. Double the awesome.

2. Parks and Recreation

When's it on? Thursday at 9:30 p.m. on NBC. Season premiere Sept. 20.

What is it? Amy Poehler's comedy, now in it's fourth season, is a cult favorite. Public officials in an Indiana town trying to make their town a better place? Bring on the funny.

Why should I watch? I'm just gonna list some names here: Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott ... the list goes on.

3. The Office

When's it on? Thursday at 9 p.m. on NBC. Season premiere Sept. 20.

What is it? If you've somehow managed to miss the office during it's eight-year run then I applaud you, that's an accomplishment. Think, disgruntled but lovable workers in a paper supply distributor. Think, NBC's most prized possession for the past few years. Think, the program Steve Carrell made himself a household name on.

Why should I watch? It's the eighth season, and it's the final season, and we've gotta support the Dunder Mifflin team!

4. Up All Night

When's it on? Thursdays at 8:30 p.m. on NBC. Season premiere Sept. 20.

What is it? It's Christina Applegate, Will Arnett, and Maya Rudolph being hilarious. Applegate and Arnett are a couple with a baby and the good intentions of balancing work, romance, and fun. A classic case of the actual show being funnier than the premise.

Why should I watch?

Because the on-screen dynamics are awesome, and Maya Rudolph is on another level as Ava.

5. Bones

When's it on? Mondays at 8 p.m. on FOX. Season premiere on Sept. 17.

What is it? A crime-comedy (yea, that's a thing), with each episode focusing on a certain crime (the Law and Order school of thought). This is the eighth season of Bones and it stars Emily Deschanel, sister of uber-inde-darling Zooey.

Why should I watch? Because eight years can't lie right? And it's fun to solve crimes from the couch.

6. Treme

When's it on? Sundays at 10 p.m. on HBO. Season premiere on Sept. 23.

What is it? It begins three months after Katrina and follows New Orleans residents rebuilding their lives. It's not TV, it's HBO.

Why should I watch? Aside from being a massive critical success the show has garnered a very loyal following (even among native New Orleanians!). Also, the music is amazing.
