Rio Olympics Swimming Medal Winners: Who Took the Gold on Day 2

The second day of the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro saw 13 swimming events, including four finals in which three countries took home some gold.

Lilly King and Ryan Murphy of the United States won gold medals in the women's 100-meter breaststroke and the men's 100-meter backstroke, respectively. King completed her event in 1:04.90, according to results posted by Google, while Murphy shot to victory in 51.97 seconds.

Meanwhile, Hungary's Katinka Hosszú secured the gold in the women's 100-meter backstroke final, completing in an impressive 58.45 seconds. In the men's 200-meter freestyle, China's Sun Yang proved victorious with a time of 1:44.65.

While U.S. swimmer Katie Ledecky shattered her own world record in the women's 400-meter freestyle on Sunday, SB Nation reported, she placed second on Monday night's semifinals for the 200-meter freestyle.
