On Tuesday, Chinese Olympic divers Chen Ruolin and Liu Huixia snagged the gold medal in the synchronized 10-meter platform diving finals, outperforming the silver-medaling Malaysian team by nearly 10 points.

According to NBC Olympics, the question of who would take bronze was between the final dives from North Korea, Canada and Great Britain. Canadian divers Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion ultimately secured the third-place standing.

The United States team finished in seventh.

NBC Olympics earlier wrote viewers have come to expect Chinese divers to dominate the Olympics, noting the country "has won every Olympic and world championship title in the women's synchronized platform event since its inception in 2000."

Chen's Tuesday gold medal means the veteran Olympic diver is just one first-place win away from boasting the most diving gold medals from any one athlete in Olympic history, according to NBC Olympics.
