Campy 'Batman' alum Adam West is back in 'Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders' trailer

If it seems like Batman is all gloom and doom after the disastrous film adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke and Ben Affleck's iteration of the character that is a borderline serial killer, remember this: Once upon a time, Batman was a campy '60s live-action TV show starring Adam West.

Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment apparently miss that Batman; the studio's latest animated film, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, is a light-hearted homage to the vintage series.

The newest trailer for the film features members of the original cast reprising their voices — West as Batman, Burt Ward as Robin and Julie Newmar as Catwoman — as the Caped Crusader has to deal with several villains returning to take over Gotham. Batman and the Boy Wonder's hands are busy, as the trailer shows the duo strapped to a gigantic dinner tray, slowly careening toward a giant oven, labeled "GIANT OVEN."

The film will stay true to the' 60s iteration of Batman in other ways too — including the show's memorable puns and corny dialogue ("Holy unholy alliance") to fight scenes using onomatopoeia bubbles.
