Zayn Malik is barely a year out from his One Direction departure, but it looks like he's already prepared to revisit his time with the group for another medium: television. According to a report from Variety, Malik is currently developing a scripted series for NBC based off of his One Direction experience; the project is purportedly titled Boys

The show is being produced by Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and his wife, Noelle Wolf. Per Variety, Boys will follow "the formation of a hugely successful boy band and captures all the excitement, competition and fun, but also provides an inside look into the pressure that follows."

"Dick Wolf is a legend and the opportunity to work with him and NBC to create a compelling drama series is awesome," Malik told Variety

While the series doesn't have a release date yet — the project still has to be written — fans of Malik and One Direction shared their excitement on the Twitterverse.

Others had a lot more shade to throw at the star, predicting that Malik will use the series to drag his bandmates and their music.

Still more fans had cheeky casting suggestions for the series, such as Narcos' Wagner Moura (but does he have the range?).
