How long were Brad and Angelina married?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the celebrity couple gold standard against which all other Hollywood relationships are held, reportedly split on Tuesday — sparking the rest of us mere mortals to conclude that love, as we know it, is dead.

Though the two have been together since 2004, forming the unit known as Brangelina, Pitt and Jolie have only been married for two years. The A-list couple had what E! News called a "low-key, family oriented" wedding in 2014 at their estate in the south of France, where their children took care of the cake, vows and other details, like the pillows for their parents' rings.

At the time, Jolie told Vanity Fair it felt "different" to be married, despite having been partners with Pitt for a decade. "It feels nice to be husband and wife," she said.

Pitt said in an interview with the BBC in 2015, according to the Independent, that getting married gave him a "more profound feeling" when he looked back on their lives together.

"All the successes and failures and great passions and great fights and that we have that together is something I can't quite get my arms around, but, to me, it's much more enticing than the newness of relationships," he said.

R.I.P. Brangelina, too good for this world.
